AK Partners was established to take over the Korea-based asset management
business previously developed by ADM Capital. AK Partners was founded in
October 2005 following its spin off from ADM Capital and is wholly owned by its
employees and related parties. In Hong Kong it operates as AK Partners (Hong
Kong) Ltd. and in Korea as AK Asset Management Co., Ltd., AK Partners Korea
Co., Ltd. and AK Gangwon Investment Co., Ltd.
AK Partners presently has 21
full-time staff, many of whom have worked together as a team continuously since
2000. AK Partners’ Seoul office was formerly the office of ADM Korea Co., Ltd.,
and after the establishment of AK Partners, became AK Partners Korea Co., Ltd.
In June 2006, AK Partners acquired
Sun Asset Management Co., Ltd., an established equity portfolio manager and
formed a new company, AK Asset Management Co., Ltd. To date, AK Partners has
provided portfolio management services to domestic Korean institutional
investors and overseas institutional investors. Three of the equity portfolio
management team are from Sun. In 2009, AK Partners
established a joint venture company with the Provincial Government of Gangwon-do Province, AK Gangwon Investment Co. for sponsorship of a venture capital fund expected to launch
shortly.
AK Partners has substantial portfolio
management experience in the areas of SME equity, debt and BW portfolios
through its management of several portfolios totalling $690 million while at ADM Capital. Presently AK Partners has under management
the following portfolios:
USD 117 million as Portfolio Manager Advisor to the KOROmas Fund Ltd and CORO Voltin Fund Ltd.
USD 126 million in
Korean listed equities as Portfolio Manager to mostly Korean clients.
AK Partners is licensed with the Hong
Kong Securities and Futures Commission as an Asset Manager, with the Korea
Financial Supervisory Commission as a Discretionary Investment Manager, and as
a Venture Capital Manager with the Korean Small and Medium Business
Administration.
